Our Story

Tyler Frank White was born June 5, 2003 @ 15:51 in John Radcliff, Silver
Star Ward in Oxford, England. The Doctors called our little boy a miracle as they said throughout my pregnancy he would not survive.

We tried for a baby for about 6 years and nothing ever happened. I just kept getting cyst after cyst on my ovary mostly the left - I was back in hospital again with another cyst and the doctor was telling me to have another operation. So finally the doctor said to remove my left ovary and fallopian tube which I agreed to, so I went and had the surgery. About five weeks later we had to put our cat to sleep, he was like our baby he was really sick. I thought I was having a nervous breakdown I couldn’t sleep couldn’t stop crying. We went to the doctor and I told him about how down I was feeling and that I had a bad stomach. He asked if my period was late I said yes but I thought it was due to the operation he said I will do a test but if you are, it is probably ectopic, so don’t get your hopes up.

Turns out I was 6 weeks pregnant - which was a scare right from the beginning
because because I was 2 week pregnant when I had the surgery. I was rushed up to the hospital in a ambulance for a scan. They said come back in 2 weeks, there is
no heart beat. I was about 6 weeks at that time but all looked good as the
baby was in the right place! Went back and everything was fine with the baby, all seems normal at 8 weeks.

Next I got preeclampsia at 3 months and had to take all my rings off. I was showing properly at 10 weeks and had to buy pregnancy clothes. I went for my 3 months scan and they said they thought I was a couple of weeks behind what I thought I was from the 1st scan. I went back at 19 weeks for another scan and they where whispering in the corner, right then we knew everything was not fine. They convinced me to go to Oxford to the John Radcliff for high risk moms and babies (Silver Star). I had an amino test and they said if he hasn’t grown then we are going to induce you I was 22 weeks but he will not survive!!! I said “It doesn’t feel wrong I can feel him move, everything seems fine” the nurse said “you’re in denial”. They put us in a room as I almost collapsed. And it was at that point when I turned to my husband and said “he is a fighter and if he wants to be here, he will fight and if he decides he doesn’t want to then he has made that decision himself”. Tyler did just that, he decided he wanted to meet his mummy & daddy. Tyler did not grow that week and we told the doctors it was up to Tyler he was making the decisions now not us!

I was being scanned once or twice a week for a couple of weeks when my key tones and protein where going up and my weight so I lived in the hospital under the professors care for over three weeks - he was nice but never told us anything positive only our baby boy would not survive.

At 32+4 weeks I had a scan and they decided pretty much on the spot they
had to do a emergency c section - as another problem I had was the fluid around
Tyler was going down he was in about 1 -2 Cm’s of fluid. Also, the cord was
around his neck and his arms where caught up somewhere around his head also! So about an hour later I was on the table when the doctor came over and says ” he
will not breathe on his own, open his eyes and he will get an infection and
die”. So as you can imagine, we were really scared!!

Baby Tyler was born June 5th, 2003 @ 15:51PM Weighing 580grams - 1LBS 4 1/2
Oz. I was 32+4 weeks along when Tyler was born. He was breathing on his own! They wheeled him over to me and when he heard my voice he opened his eyes and a little cry came out. There were doctors in the room crying as they thought Tyler would not survive, he really surprised everyone!

Tyler is truly our little miracle and a little fighter!
